ELO-40 PROMOs

It appears the advance promos for the 40th Anniversary edition of 'Electric Light Orchestra' have been unleashed.  UK release day for the real thing comes 12 March 2012 on CD/DVD and vinyl.
Meanwhile, Spin CDs is saying the album has been remastered again...
ELO’s eponymous debut album has been painstakingly remastered for its 40th Anniversary and expanded with over two hours of bonus material. Now spanning a CD/DVD double, the album includes the original Quad mix in DTS 96kHz/24 bit 4.1 surround sound, the original stereo master in high-resolution 96kHz/24 bit PCM, the original ‘10538 Overture’ promo film and extensive liner notes charting the history of the release.
If there's a substantial improvement over the 2001 edition, I will be surprised... unless they are just referring to the DVD...

COMING SOON: A TRIBUTE TO McCARTNEY

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that a Paul McCartney tribute disc is now in the works, and that Jeff Lynne is contributing to it.  No timeline for a release yet, but the project may also include a video featuring 'sessions-in-progress' with some of the participants which include Billy Joel, Brian Wilson, B.B. King and The Cure...

It sounds like we're a ways out from this one, but stay tuned nonetheless...

WELCOME TO THE MARKETPLACE...

Just noticed on my last scan through iTunes that ELO's Mr. Blue Sky (the Live at Wembley 1978 version) has been added to ELO's video section for purchase.

And the rare original promo for Showdown is available to buy on UK iTunes...
